Save File Troubleshooting

If you're seeing an error when loading your save file, don't worry — your progress might still be safe!

You can try loading a backup save using the steps below:


📁 Step 1: Open Your Save Folder

Navigate to this folder on your computer:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\RobotAssembly\PlantNurserySimulator

Tip: You can copy that path into the File Explorer address bar and hit Enter.


💾 Step 2: Identify Your Save Slot

Depending on which slot you used, your main save file will be:

  • Slot 1 → save_0.json
  • Slot 2 → save_1.json
  • Slot 3 → save_2.json

You'll also see up to 5 backup files for each slot, named like:

  • save_0_backup0.json
  • save_0_backup1.json
  • save_0_backup2.json
  • save_0_backup3.json
  • save_0_backup4.json

🛟 Step 3: Backup Your Backups (Just in Case)

Before making changes, copy all your backup files to a safe folder (like your Desktop).
That way, you can always go back if needed.


🔄 Step 4: Restore a Backup

  1. Choose a backup file that matches your save slot.
    (e.g., if you were using Slot 1, pick save_0_backup0.json)
  2. Rename that file to match your main save:
    • save_0_backup0.jsonsave_0.json
    • (Or save_1.json, save_2.json, depending on your slot)
  3. Launch the game and see if it loads.
  4. If it still doesn't work, repeat the process with the next backup (e.g., backup1, then backup2, etc.).
